U.S. State Department

The State Department’s Overseas Building Operations, OBO, contracted the National Trust Foundry to sculpt a new U.S. Embassy Seal based on design changes.  Chris sculpted many eagles for the National Trust Foundry, including the one that is used on these U.S. Embassy Medallions. The first of these newly cast designs was sent to the Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. There were nearly 3 dozen other castings made of this artwork which were sent to U.S. Embassies all over the world. This same eagle was also copied and re-used on the 40” Great Seal of the United States. Most of the 40” Great Seals were used on district courthouses. Several dozen copies of the U.S. Great Seal were also cast and installed in many cities across the country.
